There’s a magical week every year in Roan Mountain, Tennessee where the rhododendrons fill the mountains with purple and pink blooms that contrast so beautifully to the blue-green mountain landscape. Among the rhododendrons, you’ll also find bright orange flaming azaleas, fern covered trails, and lush green grass at the bald of the mountain. By timing Alie & Seth’s elopement date perfectly with the bloom, they were able to experience all of these on their elopement day adventure.
Elopement Planning Tip: Rhododendron bloom at Roan Mountain usually happens mid-June, and it’s worth considering for your elopement date because they don’t last long! I help many of my couples choose their date around the unique scenery they’re hoping for – from wildflowers in the summer for Alie & Seth to the frosty mountaintops at Hanna & Alex’s elopement.
Alie & Seth’s day began at their family home in Burnsville, NC – where they got ready & had their ceremony with their immediate family.
Following their ceremony & celebration with their family, the three of us headed to the mountains for a hike at Roan Mountain. This was their “just-us” time, which is extra important to prioritize when you’re including guests in your ceremony. When I’m planning elopements like theirs, perfectly balancing time with loved ones and quality time together is my biggest goal. Post-ceremony hikes like these are also a perfect way to include a little adventure in your day if your family can’t hike. But, you can get married at Roan Mountain with a small group of guests! More about that at the link below!
Nuwray Hotel is a historical hotel & restaurant in Burnsville, NC – just outside of Asheville. They had an incredible dinner, champagne toast, cocktails, and cake with their family to celebrate the day.
