Blowing Rock is known for it’s small mountain town feel, charming Inns, and quaint downtown, making it the perfect elopement destination for couple’s that want a quiet scape to the mountains for their elopement day. Cameron & Sasha knew they wanted to elope in Blowing Rock from the first time I talked with them about their elopement day, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect choice.
The day began at Sasha’s parent’s home nestled in the mountains where Sasha got ready for the day. As she did her hair and makeup, rain started pouring down outside. While most bride’s would be anxious about the rain, I remember Sasha stating how calming it was to get ready with the sounds of the rain fall.
Despite the pouring rain, we went on as scheduled to their first look at Moses Cone Manor, a stunning mansion on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We explored the property afterwards for a few portraits in front of the grand architecture and mountain views.
After the first look, we made our way to a nearby trail for their ceremony. We arrived before their family and started our hike up so that they could enjoy the beauty of the trail and a few moments at the top to soak in the view together. As we arrived the top, I anticipated lots of fog and less of a view due to the rain, but we were met with a clear view and the perfect amount of fog rolling over the mountains. Cameron & Sasha sat on the rock together taking in the views and choosing the perfect spot for their ceremony. This part of the day was unplanned and really shows the beauty of going with the flow on your elopement day.
Cameron & Sasha have been together since high school, evolving as individuals and growing together as a couple for 7 years. As I was witnessing their day unfold and listening to their heartfelt vows, I couldn’t help but think about how I wasn’t just photographing a wedding… I was documenting the history of their relationship, their hardest and happiest moments, the past versions of themselves as they’ve grown together over time, their family history, everything that has led them to where they are today. Following their ceremony, they had a few first dances that had everyone teary-eyed.
“On the day of the wedding it was down pouring. But thanks to Erin and her back up plans, we felt at peace with whatever the weather decided to do that day. Erin truly brought so much calmness but also so much fun to the day.” – Cameron & Sasha
After their ceremony, everyone headed to downtown Blowing Rock for a private dinner at The Best Cellar. This charming restaurant, known for its cozy ambiance and exceptional cuisine, was the perfect place to celebrate their marriage.
